DPP Tank cleaning prior Dry Dock

Tank Cleaning After Heavy Residue Cargo

The Problem Cargo tanks required preparation for dry dock after discharge of a heavy petroleum product (DPP) with significant residues. Two sister ships had previously entered dry dock after 12 days of washing, with extensive sediments still present, failing gas-free requirements and facing serious delays and costs.

The Solution A structured tank cleaning programme was implemented involving staged washing, precise temperature control and inspection planning — with the correct sequence and approach from day one.

The Result Cargo tanks were successfully prepared and gas-free in only 4 days, with zero sediment remaining. Zero demucking costs. Zero dry dock delays. The two sister ships required three times longer and still failed — at significant extra cost to owners.

Complex Chemical Cargo Sequence

The Problem Multiple chemical cargoes with strict purity requirements needed careful compatibility planning, tank allocation and cleaning preparation to avoid cross-contamination.

The Solution Cargo sequence and tank allocation were reviewed and optimized prior to loading. Tank cleaning procedures were planned for each changeover to meet wall wash requirements for sensitive cargoes.

The Result Cargo operations completed safely and ahead schedule with no contamination issues and no wall wash failures.

PALM OILS HANDLING

Palm Oil Cargo Handling & Discharge

The Problem Palm oil cargo required strict heating control during the voyage to prevent solidification. On the previous voyage, the same vessel experienced 6 days of delays discharging in the same port — solidified cargo, blocked lines and serious charterer claims.

The Solution Heating procedures were calculated, adjusted and continuously monitored throughout the voyage to maintain the correct cargo temperature at all times. Discharge planning was optimised in advance.

The Result Cargo discharged successfully without any operational difficulties, within the charter party timeframe of 48 hours. Zero delays. Zero claims.
